Media summary: Mike Santoyo was ejected from his car while on fire after a police chase in Riverside ended in a crash that split the car in two. At around 1:40 a.m., an officer reportedly say Santoyo driving a truck the wrong way on a one-way street downtown. According to officials, the officer followed Santoyo, who crashed into a parked car on University Avenue. The officer tried to pull Santoyo over, but he allegedly backed up and fled. The officer chased Santoyo at speeds reaching 80 mph until Santoyo crashed into a palm tree. The truck split in half and burst into flames. Santoyo was thrown from the truck, on fire, and officers extinguished the flames. He died at a hospital.
