Media summary: Tarrea Black was a passenger in an allegedly stolen 1993 Honda that crashed while fleeing police. At about 10:15 p.m., Chicago officers in an unmarked car reportedly saw a man suspiciously going from customer to customer at a Howard Street gas station holding what looked like a credit card. Police said he got into the Honda when the officers pulled into the parking lot, then started speeding before hitting a Toyota van. Black died at the scene. Two others were injured. According to police, they were not chasing the car when it crashed, but the driver was trying to elude them. The Honda's driver, Levar D. Drane, 27, was charged with first-degree murder.
