Media summary: Driver Darren Allen and passengers Martes Mosley and Tyra Young were killed when the allegedly stolen 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix they were in crashed into a fire hydrant on Martin Luther King Drive after a police pursuit. According to police, the Pontiac was used to rob a woman in a parking lot. Police spotted the car at around 4 p.m. near Union and Martin Luther King Drive and a chase ensued. Several witnesses said a police car clipped the back of the Pontiac when the driver tried to turn onto Deer Street. Police claimed the officers had backed off the pursuit by the time of the crash.
