Media summary: Troopers were called to a disabled vehicle, previously involved in an armed carjacking, where they encountered three people who were standing on the left shoulder of the expressway, outside of the disabled vehicle. Two of them -- including a 17-year-old -- ran across all lanes of traffic toward the right shoulder -- as the trooper got out of his squad car. The 17-year-old was struck and killed.
