Media summary: Police said an Waterford Township officer on patrol saw a 1995 Jeep Cherokee driving erratically without headlights on Highland near Williams Lake at 2 a.m. The Jeep stopped for a red light before continuing west on Highland Road for about one mile. According to police, a White Lake Township officer also arrived, as the Jeep sped off south on Sunnybeach, left the roadway and hit a tree. Passenger Joel Adler died at the scene. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
