Media summary: James Britton died after being arrested for allegedly trying to take over a Chicago Transit Authority bus. According to police, Britton grabbed the driver's wrist and tried to prevent the bus from turning. The driver was able to slow the bus down and press a silent alarm. An off-duty CTA driver and another witness boarded the bus and eventually forced Britton off the bus as police arrived. Officers pepper sprayed Britton after he allegedly continued behaving aggressively, but he ran off. An officer chased him, and with the help of a witness, caught up with Britton and handcuffed him. Britton was taken to the Marquette District station, where he was discovered limp in the back of the police car upon arrival. Britton was pronounced dead at a hospital.
