Media summary: Investigators concluded that James P. "Jamie" Lynn intentionally drove his Oldsmobile station wagon into a bridge pillar while fleeing from a deputy. According to police, Lynn drove straight into the pillar at about 5:30 p.m. while driving approximately 100 mph on I-70 at the Niles Road interchange. Lynn died at the scene. Police said that Lynn left letters for relatives and appeared to have been despondent about family problems.
