Media summary: Mike Wayne Morgan was killed when his Cadillac Deville was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck fleeing from police. The pursuit started at about 11:15 a.m. at 4th Street and Beaumont Avenue, when an officer tried to stop the truck for a traffic violation, police said. The pickup driver did not stop and led police south on Highway 79, then southeast on Gilman Springs Road. According to police, officers lost sight of the truck and were about to return to Beaumont when they saw a plume of smoke. They then reportedly saw that the pickup had crashed into the Cadillac near the entrance to Soboba Casino. Morgan was pronounced dead at a hospital. Two people in the truck were critically injured, and a third had moderate injuries.
