Media summary: Freddy Jonathan Bates was killed when he crashed a 1978 Oldsmobile during a police chase. According to police, Bates was southbound on IL-1 at about 5:10 p.m. when he went into the northbound lane, hitting a 1994 Pontiac Firebird driven by John Kessler, 46, and a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Kevin McConnell, 38.
