Media summary: Police said a chase began at 4:10 p.m. after a deputy saw Michael Gruich and two other motorcyclists speeding on Coon Lake Road in Marion Township. Gruich's Cafe-style bike hit an oncoming Mercury Sable head on as he fled from the deputy. Gruich was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Mercury were not injured, deputies said.
