Media summary: Around midnight, an off-duty officer reportedly witnessed a burglary at Sunny's Food Store. When additional officers arrived, three suspects in a U-Haul truck had already taken off. Officers found the truck and chased it. Officers pursued the van through the neighborhoods. Police said one of the suspects jumped out of the U-Haul during the chase and was taken into custody. The chase continued down the service road at North Main Loop and I-45. A second person, Lance Sentil Prater, was reportedly hanging out of the vehicle when he fell off and was run over by the back wheels of the U-haul, killing him. Police officers were able to stop the truck with spike strips. A woman, the suspected driver, Diawannah Corstera Thomas, 54, was arrested.
